Cross Cultural and Classical Jewelry


Collaborating artists Cynthia Alderdice and Lois Mansfield design and fabricate classical and cross-cultural pieces of fine jewelry. They design one of a kind and limited edition pieces in 22K and 24K gold and fine silver. Often the pieces are embellished with gemstones, pearls and enamels. The artists draw inspiration from years of experience in varied art media such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, enameling and all facets of metalsmithing. The texture and design of the work echo the artists’ inspiration from cultures around the world. Much like archeological relics, each piece evokes a mood and tells a story.

In April 2004 through 2007 and November 2008 and 2009, they participated in the three day invitational Jewelry Fair sponsored by the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2007 they were invited to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Jewelry Show in Richmond, Virginia. They will be exhibiting in the October 2010 Fine Arts and Flowers Jewelry Fair at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and in the November Jewelry Fair at the Walters Art Museum .
