Alderdice / Mansfield Alchemic Synthesis Cross Cultural and Classical Jewelry
Collaborating artists Cynthia Alderdice and Lois Mansfield design and fabricate classical and cross-cultural pieces of fine jewelry. They design one of a kind and limited edition pieces of 22K and 24K gold and fine silver. Often the pieces are embellished with gemstones, pearls and enamels. The artists draw inspiration from years of experience in varied art media such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, enameling and all facets of metalsmithing. The texture and design of the work is influenced by cultures around the world. Much like archaeological relics, each piece evokes a mood and tells a story.
From 2004 to 2012 they participated in the three-day invitational Jewelry Fair, sponsored by the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. They were invited to exhibit in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and Jewelry Show in Richmond, Virginia in 2007 and 2010 and at the Fifth Treasury Sale and Show at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology in 2012. From 2011 to 2015 they displayed at the Academy of Art Museum Craft Show in Easton, Maryland.
